3 steps to Kickstart your Video Gaming Career: Step 3

In today's blog we would like to continue on discussing how to start your new career in video gaming. In our last blog we told you about two important steps: choosing your battlefield (your game console) and choosing your sword (your game controller). Now that you know your options hopefully you have decided on which battlefield and sword will work for you. So with you on the battlefield and your weapon in hand lets go on to step three, choosing your own war.

Step 3: Choose your war
That's right. In this world of games you can choose you own war. What do we mean by war? We mean video game. Choose the video game that you want to battle in, from Mario Kart 8 to Call of Duty. Choose any one, but be careful, only certain games are available on certain consoles.
Source
For example, Nintendo creates its own games, such as Mario Bros., they get a copyright for that game, so then it belongs to them, by law. This means that you will not see Super Mario Bros. available for the Xbox or PlayStation, just Nintendo Wii and Wii U. It is the same with Microsoft (Xbox) and PlayStation (Sony). If they make a game and get a copyright for it, no other console can have that game, unless stated otherwise in their copyright agreement. On the other hand many companies besides Microsoft, Nintendo, and

Sony create games that can be played on all three of those consoles. Some of these companies include EA, Ubisoft, Sierra Entertainment, and more. Ubisoft creates many of the popular hit games, such as Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Just Dance, etc. And yes they do have Call of Duty for Wii U, it's just not popular for that console but it is available at some stores.

And there you have it. You are all equipped and ready for war, and fighting the war is going to be the best part. There's no "one chance then you're done" type of deal. You can start over and over again until you master the game. Keep practicing as much as you can and pretty soon you'll become a champion at whatever game you want to be a pro at. Come back next week to read about what we think about Nintendo's maybe new "console", the Nintendo Switch.

We recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Source
It's October, and there's quite a bit that goes on in October. There's fall and Halloween, and of course gaming. But our company Knight of Games would like to Recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Did you know that according to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation that every two minutes a women in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer? Not many people are aware of that, so our mission is to let you know that breast cancer is severe and spreading, and you can do something to help prevent that. The Breast Cancer Research Foundation does their best in researching and finding ways to cure breast cancer. They also treat women who have breast cancer and those who may get that cancer. Many places and companies are out there doing their best to beat this monster but they can't do it all alone. This is why Knight of Games wants to help, and we'll need your help too.

Here's one great way to help. We are going to hold a gaming tournament on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at 12:00 P.M. at our center Knight of Games. We will have awesome games for you to play to compete against others, including the new Forza 6, Super Smash Bros. and our newest gaming booth, Atari! Because we will be raising money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation it will cost $15 to enter the tournament, and all the money raised during this tournament will go towards the foundation. But wait, here's an extra perk. Wear a pink T-shirt or a pink cap, or both, and get $5 taken off of the tournament entrance fee. So that's only $10 to get into the tournament, and that money goes towards research to fighting breast cancer and ending it once and for all.

Will we have prizes you ask? Of course. It cant be a tournament without prizes. First place prize is a free video game of your choice, a pink T-shirt, and a water bottle, second place will receive a $10 gift card to our center and a pink T-shirt, and third place will receive a pink T-shirt. With your help we all can all fight to end the battle of breast cancer and free many women and their families from this burden. Lets do this together, one fight at a time.

3 steps to kickstart your video Gaming Career: Steps 1-2

In today's blog we are going to help you figure out how to game, and how to do it right. In our previous blog post we have discussed with you which battlefield would be right for you. Now after some time to think on it, we hope that you have decided on what console that you want. No that you have picked one let's get started on the 3 main steps to get your gaming career going. The first step you should have already done.

Step 1: Choose your battlefield.

Source
Choosing your battlefield, or in other words your game console, is the first and most important step. You can't play a video game without a game console. Now answer these questions: What kind of games do you prefer, blood and gore, action, speed, fun and games, or strategy and concentration?; Do you need 4K resolution, or does that even matter to you?; Do you prefer handheld consoles or controllers?; How long do you think you can play on your console at a time? 10 minutes? 2 hours? Answering these questions according to what you like and which one works best for you will determine which console you want, or lets say need. I'll go along with you on this new journey. The battlefield that I am choosing is the Wii U, and I am choosing this battlefield because I have mastered the usage of the Wii remote, pro controller, game pad, and nun chuck. I also like to play their games, such as Mario Bros. and Zelda.

Step 2: Choose your sword!

Source
Choosing your sword, or game controller should I say, can be easy for some, and extremely difficult for others. The Xbox gives you a choice of two weapons, their Xbox controller or the Xbox kinect, which is basically just you, no controller in your hand. Pretty awesome right! The only downside to this is that you can only use it on certain games, which is indicated on the front of the case of the game.  PlayStation has three controllers to choose from, the PlayStation 4 controller, PlayStation Move, or the PlayStation camera, which is kind of the same as the Xbox kinect, you do not need a controller. And next you have the Nintendo Wii U's controllers, which include the game pad (which is my weapon of choice), the pro controller, the nun chuck, and the Wii remote itself. Only downside to the many selections that Nintendo gives you is that you can only use certain controllers for certain games. For example, for Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U you can use any controller of your choice, but for Need for Speed: Most Wanted you can use any pro controller and the game pad, but you can not use the Wii remote alone.

So far we have discussed only two steps to becoming a master in gaming, and I have a third step for you. Be on the look our for my next blog for Step 3: Choose your battle!, or in other words, pick the games that you want to play. This step is where the action happens, so be ready!

Choose your battlefield

Welcome back to my blog. Today and for a while after this I would like to train you on

how to battle in this world of gaming. Yes, gaming is a battle. You can either battle against the

computer (also known as the CPU), your friends, players from around the world, or just yourself.

Now I'm positive that you want to be a master knight in this battle, right? Awesome! Now I want to

help train you to fight with some tips and tricks on what game console and video games in general

that would be best for you, and what weapons (aka controllers) you should acquire that will best suite

you. First lets start by discussing about the major battlefields, or gaming consoles, that everyone is

using in this generation.

First console: PlayStation by Sony.
Consoles: PlayStation 1, 2, 3, 4, 4S, PSP

As many of you know, Sony has created 5

game consoles of their own, starting with the

PlayStation 1 to the PlayStation 4s, or the

PlayStation slim as some people call it. It is a

rival of Nintendo's Entertainment System. The

PlayStation is highly different when it comes to its controllers and online gaming service. Its

controllers is smaller than the Xbox and Nintendo controllers, but it makes it easier for reaching it

joy-sticks, which are located toward the bottom of the controller, not so much the top as with the

Xbox controller and Wii U pro controller. The console's processor and resolution has increased

greatly generation after generation, keeping up with the likes of its users and its

competition, Xbox and Nintendo.

Second console: Xbox by Microsoft.
Consoles: Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox One S

Everyone knows the Xbox so well. It was the last of the three

consoles to finally be created and released. What makes it

different from the PlayStation and Nintendo you ask? Well first

off the controller, which I have mentioned earlier, is bigger than usual and has its unique placement

of their buttons. Also the console itself is bigger. Creating a big console shows to its customers (you)

that it has a better process and has more room for downloading games. Even though this is not the

case, this is what you see when you lay your eyes on the console every time you see it. As same with

the PlayStation, the Xbox has been upgraded every generation with better resolution and online

gaming to keep up with their gamers and competition.

Third console: Wii by Nintendo
Consoles: Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii, Wii U, Nintendo DS
Source

Last but not least, in my opinion, is Nintendo.

Nintendo was the first biggest game console of

all time with its release of its Nintendo

Entertainment System and Donkey Kong.

Nintendo's Wii console was a huge hit when it

was released in 2006, with its console being

small and the ability to play with up to four

players, everyone wanted in on this spectacular console, especially when it
Source

comes to Mario Bros. When the Wii U was released in 2012

Nintendo took a down turn. The new controller it has created, the

Gamepad, was somewhat of a surprise. It is put together as their pro

controller is, but with a 6.5 inch LED screen. Yes the controller was

very well played, as in many reviews it was ranked higher than the

PlayStation and Xbox controller overall, but what went wrong?

Nintendo was not customer-oriented. The resolution on the console

only goes up to 1080p and the storage only goes up to 32 GB of storage, compared to PlayStation's

and Xbox's 4K resolution and 500 GB storage.

And there you have it, a small review on the three major battlefields of today. As you've read through

this you've probably noticed I didn't discuss what games are available for which console, and that's

because all the games vary from console to console. If you're more of a Call of Duty and Grand Theft

Auto fan, you're probably going to want an Xbox or PlayStation. If you're of the Mario Bros. type

and prefer more strategic gaming you probably might want to try the Wii U or Nintendo DS. Either

way its up to you. Need any more help? No problem. Stop by our center Knight of Games and we

can help you pick out the right console and you can buy any game that you want, from Call of Duty:

Black Ops 3 to Super Mario Maker. The choice is yours, so choose wisely!
