We all know that you love to play video games, watch a little Netflix here and there, and play Candy Crush on your phone. Sometimes the movie may be too good to stop watching, and you end up binge watching an entire season of "The Flash" in two hours. So while you're sitting there, enjoying the best round of Mario Kart with your friends, have you ever thought about how it may affect it your health? Yeah, video games and movies are awesome and absolutely fun, but sitting down and looking at a lit up screen for a long period of time can physically affect you. You've probably never have been aware of this type of harm, so that's why in today's blog we want to make sure that you are aware. This month, November, is
No Shave November, awareness of the many health issues that many men go through, and we want to make a step to help by telling you a couple tips for being healthy and an awesome gamer.
- Take a break. You should take a small 15 minute break from the television screen after about 45 minutes to an hour of gaming or watching TV. Grab a drink or do some stretches and push ups. Taking a break will give your head and your eyes a quick relief from the bright light. Plus it will help you achieve your best gaming abilities.
- Stay back! While playing Call of Duty on your PlayStation or watching Orange is the New Black on Netflix, you need to make sure that you are looking at your screen at a safe distance. Based on the size of your television, you should always be approximately 3 feet away from your screen. Click on this link here to see how far away you should be sitting from your TV. Doing this can help you from, as they call it, "frying" your brain.
- Give each other some elbow room. While playing games that requires you to move around, such as the Wii motion controllers, PlayStation Move, or the Xbox Kinect, you should make sure that you have a safe distance between you and your friends. Doing this can prevent each of you from hitting each other. Less pain and bruises mean more fun and games.
And there you have it, three ways you can be healthy and have fun. We hope that you can benefit from these tips by doing them everyday. Remember to check out our center Knight of Games and our new selection of drones! And don't forget to follow us on
